Report on Baby Blankets and Socks for Warm Hands, Fall 2010

Our campaign for the Warm Hands Network to help the Innu children in Northern Labrador has come to a successful close. We have sent 4 huge boxes weighing nearly 135 pounds — 61 baby blankets and 76 pairs of socks! All has now been received, and everything will be distributed through the clinic there:

Sock Blitz! (November 15, 2011)

On August 5, 2010, we launched a Sock Blitz, with an end date of November 15, 2010. Our goal is to collect 100 pairs of socks by that date! 100 pairs of socks in 100 days! Wool-Aid has General Guidelines for socks.

Guidelines specific to this campaign:

• Wool (at least 80% wool/animal fiber)
• Worsted weight yarn or heavier (includes worsted or worsted stranded with sock yarn or worsted weight doubled or bulky yarn)
• Sock length at least 6”, up to adult sizes for teens
• Sock height at least 6” above the heel flap, or with a leg measurement equal to foot length, up to a maximum of 10”
• Please tie socks of a pair together.

Suggested pattern:

Cozy Toes by Christiane Burkhard (LISMI)

You may use any pattern that you enjoy knitting, as long as the finished socks meet the guidelines above.

Please send all socks to
